International Cookware, parent company of Pyrex and Duralex, has changed its name to La Maison Française du Verre.
The name is to unite the Pyrex and Duralex under one company with shared values and ambitions.
These include: incomparable quality, tradition, innovation and sustainability, and a shared goal to constitute a centre of excellence in glass with global ambitions.
The two brands will combine 750 people, 100 million pieces each year (produced in 133 countries) and 184 years of accumulated glass know-how.
At the forefront of the group’s evolution is CEO Jose-Luis Llacuna, who has been with the company since 2015. He led the takeover of Duralex in January 2021, committing to invest €17 million by 2024 and maintain approx. 250 jobs.
Today, Mr Llacuna has helped launch the group’s change of name and identity. He said:
“Pyrex and Duralex are two brands that are as essential as they are timeless. Thanks to their know-how, these two companies design simple everyday products that are adapted to consumer needs and have incomparable quality.”
While both brands manufacturer glass kitchenware (among other products), Duralex uses tempered soda-lime glass glass and Pyrex uses low-thermal-expansion borosilicate glass.
These materials give the products their strength and resistance, with Pyrex withstanding temperatures of up to 220°C.
