Square Enix has released the (FFXIV) Final Fantasy XIV Online update 9.29 this December 3, and this latest massive one is the preliminary update for Patch 6.0 of Endwalker. Head on for the full patch notes below.

Patch 6.0 contains content that can only be accessed by registering the expansion packs for FINAL FANTASY XIV to your service account. To distinguish between adjustments that are and are not affected by the registration of these expansions, the following notations will be used throughout the patch notes:

New cities have been added.

New field areas have been added.

* Additional new areas have been omitted to prevent spoilers.

New city and field aetherytes have been added.

The number of aether currents in all Heavensward, Stormblood, and Shadowbringers areas has been reduced. Furthermore, the location of certain aether currents has been adjusted.

* Players who met this new aether current requirement prior to the release of Patch 6.0 will unlock the ability to fly in each area.

Patch 6.0 introduces myriad quests in addition to the main scenario. As such, there may be cases where the patch notes only cite the initial quest in a series, or omit quests entirely to prevent spoilers. We encourage players to explore and discover what new stories and adventures await.

So that all players are able to enjoy the expansion, we kindly ask everyone to please be considerate and do their best to avoid posting spoiler-related content on the official forums, Lodestone, social media, or in videos as there are those players who may start at the official launch or play at their own pace.

New main scenario quests have been added.

New side story quests have been added.

Side story quests added in Patch 6.0 will employ an automatic level adjust system known as Quest Sync.

Quests using this system will have their difficulty and EXP rewards adjusted to match your current level. * Certain side story quests do not use Quest Sync.

Role quests have been added.

The physical DPS role quests added in Patch 6.0 have been divided into two categories: melee DPS and physical ranged DPS.

Tank (Paladin / Warrior / Dark Knight / Gunbreaker)

Melee DPS (Monk / Dragoon / Ninja / Samurai / Reaper)

Physical Ranged DPS (Bard / Machinist / Dancer)

Magical Ranged DPS (Black Mage / Summoner / Red Mage)

Healer (White Mage / Scholar / Astrologian / Sage)

* Additional quests unlocked upon completing the entirety of the main scenario and all five role quest series will be added in a future update.

Studium Deliveries have been added.

Each Disciple of the Hand or Land will be able to progress through one of five series of quests associated with the different faculties of the Studium.

Completing deliveries for a faculty of the Studium will advance the story of that particular faculty. * Because Studium Delivery quest rewards include crafters’ scrips and gatherers’ scrips, players must first complete the quest “Inscrutable Tastes” before undertaking deliveries.

Faculty of Archaeology (Blacksmith / Armorer / Goldsmith)

Professor Rurusha’s New Friend

Faculty of Astronomy (Carpenter / Leatherworker / Weaver)

In Search of the Azure Star

Faculty of Medicine (Alchemist / Culinarian)

Faculty of Anthropology (Miner / Botanist)

Additional quests will be unlocked upon completing the entirety of the main scenario and all five Studium Delivery quest series.

Certain instanced battles will now display character portraits alongside the battle dialogue widget.

Character portraits have only been added to instanced battles appearing in the main scenario of Endwalker. They can be disabled by unchecking the “Display character portraits with battle dialogue widget.” option under the HUD tab of UI Settings in the Character Configuration menu.

When viewing cutscenes in the Unending Journey, class quests and job quests up to and including those introduced in the 4.x patches will require players to change to the relevant class or job.

When viewing cutscenes for Disciple of War or Magic classes, they may also be viewed when playing as the corresponding job.

New tradecraft and fieldcraft leves have been added.

No tradecraft leves or fisher fieldcraft leves allowing multiple turn-ins have been added.

Experience points rewarded when using a class at level 80 or above to complete a leve with a level requirement below 80 have been capped at 1,000.

With consideration for the inflation of gil, and the potential rewards for using a single leve allowance, the following adjustments have been made:

* Because the downscaling of in-game values coincides with adjustments to rewards, it is not possible to make a direct comparison of rewards before and after the release of Patch 6.0.

When undertaking fisher fieldcraft leves that require spearfishing, the number of fish required for completion has been increased.

New FATEs have been added.

Players will receive bicolor gemstones upon completing FATEs in 6.0 areas. This currency can be exchanged with Gemstone Trader NPCs for various goods.

Furthermore, as you continue to complete FATEs in these new areas, Gemstone Traders will offer a wider selection of items.

To view your progress in each area, select Shared FATE under Travel in the main menu.
