Will the upcoming, Toronto-based Central Park Condos get its own Friends-inspired Central Perk café? Absolutely – albeit with an entirely different cast of characters and new locale.

Unlike New York’s Central Park that sits squarely within the metropolis, its namesake – Central Park Condos – is surrounded by undeveloped land neighbouring the East Don Parkland ravine.

Currently in preconstruction in the Bayview Village neighbourhood, Amexon’s 12-acre, master-planned community aspires to become its own public destination.

“Our greatest amenity is the location,” says Jason Shiff, executive sales manager at Amexon. “We describe it as where nature meets urban because it’s still very much in the city, but located within this lush under-developed part of the Bayview area.”

But the skyscapers are coming. Designed by Toronto-based CORE Architects, the community features five residential towers ranging in size from 12-31-storeys each with over 1,478 units total – and ten percent of those will be above the 1,000 sq. ft. range.

Suites range from one-bedroom to three-bedroom + den, and from 439 sq. t. to 1,200 sq. ft. t Prices will begin from the $600,000s.

“When designing this building, we really wanted to break away from the conventional,” says Deni Poletti, principal at CORE Architects. “The tower facades display an organic leaflike design, an architectural detail that recalls its natural environment.”

All buildings within Central Park feature glass as a reflective feature of the nature it surrounds. “It was about creating a harmonious coexistence between sparkling glass and nature,” explains Poletti. “These buildings highlight the forested ravine and the setting of the East Don Parkland.”

The live-work community also showcases 320,000 sq. ft. of office space, retail and restaurants that surround the grandiose Central Park Common – a three-acre park offering year-round programming – including a public skating rink, a farmer’s market, street vendors, and water fountains.

It’s also conveniently connected to public transportation systems with direct access to the Leslie subway station and the Oriole GO Station on the Richmond Hill line, which is soon to be relocated at the Leslie St. East southbound off-ramp.

“From Oriole, it will be one stop to Union station, so workers in the downtown core can be there within 20 minutes,” says Shiff. “The concept of this complex is sustainability – so there are a lot of green features.”
