The FPS® product line had its origins in 1981 when the Canadian company began designing and manufacturing ignitors, flame scanners and drum level probes.

FPS evolved to become a worldwide leader in the design and manufacturing of firing equipment and safety systems for the power generation, pulp and paper, and petrochemical industries. FPS technology is also integral for coal-to-gas and oil-to-gas fuel conversion projects.

FPS developed many of the technologies that are currently being used throughout the industry on flame scanning, gas/oil ignition and water level measurement equipment. FPS products are specified on new construction and retrofit projects around the world and are installed in over 70 countries, all developed, manufactured and tested in our factory in Nova Scotia, Canada.

Since 1987, FPS has maintained an exclusive marketing agreement with Babcock & Wilcox, for all ignition product sales and service in the U.S. Further recognizing the quality and value in the FPS brand of combustion technologies, controls and safety systems, B&W has acquired the complete FPS product line.
